Media and Diplomacy

Overview

In the age of continuous information flow and instant communication, the media have become a full-fledged player in international relations. Mastering public discourse, image, and reputation is now an essential aspect of diplomatic action.

The rise of digital media and social media has profoundly transformed diplomatic practices by accelerating the flow of information and increasing the visibility of states, institutions, and their representatives. In this environment marked by the “tyranny of real time” described by Nick Gowing, communication can become a powerful tool for influence, but also a source of vulnerability.

This specialized seminar aims to provide an understanding of the strategic role of the media in diplomacy by analyzing their influence on international relations, institutional communication, and the management of sensitive situations or crises. It enables participants to strengthen their ability to prepare and deliver official messages, develop communication strategies, draft press releases, and respond confidently to media inquiries.

This program, available in person and online, can be customized to meet the specific needs of each group.
